At High Wycombe we teach the following:
- Patterns -(set movements of attack & defense against one or more imaginary opponants) There are 24 patterns in Tae Kwon Do, each representing a different aspect of the Art 's history & development.
- Sparring -(controlled fighting against one sometimes two opponants) Students are taught how to attack & defend against opponants in a controlled safe environment.
Sparring includes: Point sparring, Continuous sparring, One, Two and Three-Step sparring, and Two-on-One sparring
- Destruction -(using feet & hands to break boards) Once a sufficient grade is reached, students are taught to break boards using various hand and foot techniques
Destruction is a measure of the students power, accuracy & control
- Terminology -(Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art, our students learn all moves & commands in Korean) Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art & so all students learn all new moves and commands in both English & Korean.
As the commands are consistent, this means that our students would be able to train in any ITF TaeKwonDo school anywhere in the world!
Our BUTF qualified Instructor Mr. Stephen Dover II Dan teaches the full Taekwondo syllabus according to the British United Taekwondo Federation.
The venue is a large hall with rubberised flooring where our students can train twice a week.
Because we adhere to strict safety guidelines, all of our students train together irrespective of age, gender or belt and so learning Taekwondo is not as 'daunting' as other Martial Arts.
No previous martial arts knowledge is required to start training and we welcome beginners at any time of year.
There are a number of gradings held during the year in which you can progress through the ranks to the coverted Black belt.
Our students regularly attend the various Taekwondo competitions and have won a number of medals both in Individual and Team events.
